Weight Loss Tips

Weight loss tips. Everyone has them but if you don’t use them they’re no good. I’ve combined some of the ones I think are most important. I plan to share more as I find them useful. It’s not important to do everyone of them every day. But ultimately you need to change your habits in order to loose weight and maintain a healthy comfortable weight. That doesn’t mean you can’t splurge sometimes, you just have to keep those times to a minimum (especially while you are loosing weight) and splurge in smaller ways as opposed to gorging yourself and/or going on a bender.

Most Important Tip 1
Don’t skip breakfast. Whatever you do follow this advice, because otherwise you are much more likely in fact prone to binge later in the day.

Weight Loss Tip 2
Exercise. It’s almost impossible to loss weight without some form of exercise. Remember walking is exercise and if you do enough of it - it counts. Make sure you exercise at least twenty minutes each day for three to five days out of the week. Basically exercise as much as you can without hurting your body. Walk up the stairs instead of using the escalator or elevator. Take a break during the day and walk around the office or do sit-ups in an empty room. Taking classes or getting a buddy is a great way to exercise as there is support to exercise longer and show up. I’m also a big fan of the stationery bike. But find something you at least like doing and do it consistently.

Weight Loss Tip 3
Take two teaspoons of apple cider in water vinegar twice a day. It helps with make you thinner and as an additional perk it decreases pain in the body.

Weight Loss Tip 4
Sugar is NOT your friend. Work towards weaning yourself away from needed sweet things. If you won’t give up coffee and have to have it with sugar use artificial sweeteners. One of the best is Truvia but they all taste similar. Personally I’ve always hated to do this because of the after taste. Here’s a trick to getting rid of the after taste of artificial sweeteners. Blend them. Put equal and Splenda or Truvia together. I really don’t recommend sweet-n-low - saccharin is just bad for you.

Weight Loss Tip 5
When you want something sweet, eat fruit. Apples, bananas, watermelon, plums, peaches, oranges and grapes. Grapes are really good for snaking. Apples have fiber and water and make you feel full which keeps you from feeling hungry.

Weight Loss Tip 6
Eat vegetables. Snack on carrots, cucumber, red or green peppers, or yes, even celery. Eat salad. If you hate salad, try steamed or stir fried vegetables. Get creative with seasonings and herbs. Rosemary, dill, basil and many others can make boring steamed vegetables really tasty.

Weight Loss Tip 7
Avoid unnecessary high calorie foods. Instead of a high calorie salad dressing for instance try cottage cheese or yogurt to improve the salads taste and peel off the pounds. Oil and balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar can be really good on salads.

Weight Loss Tip 8
Set specific, realistic goals for your weight loss, and WRITE THEM DOWN. And figure out a plan on how to achieve it. Keep a food journal. Write down everything you eat - every day. Just doing this will help you make better choices.

Weight Loss Tip 9
Get Support. If you have a really hard time doing these things by yourself. As I do. Get support. I’m a really big fan of weight watchers. And I don’t get any $$ for saying that. It helps me lose weight and stay on track and it has helped my friends lose weight. But if it’s not for you there are plenty of others. But get support. Sometimes all it takes is an email friend that you talk to when you need support and check in with once a week with where you are in your goals.

Tip 10 - Weigh yourself
Weight yourself once a week. If you don’t you’ll never really know if you are on track. When I was younger I’d look in the mirror and if I could see my collar bone well, I figured I was fine. Not a good test. Neither is the jeans test. If my jeans feel loose then I’m doing well, if they’re tight I need to lose. Get on a scale once a week. And it’s best if you can do it the same time every day. In the morning we tend to weigh less than the evening as we’ve eaten throughout the day.
